    Hi!
I've recently been asked to give a few LC Spanish grinds after Christmas, I only took up Spanish in college and I'm in my final year now. Can anyone help me out with what needs to be covered, notes etc?
I don't want to do a half arsed job on this so I'd rather get it right from day one, any help is greatly appreciated! :)

I'd recommend getting some past papers, a set from Easons, and having a look through them for some idea of what to cover.

Your first grind will be mainly getting an idea of the level of the grindee. Give them a bell and ask what they're having difficulty with, that should give some inspiration.

To look like you're prepared draw up some plans around common problematical grammar areas and be sure of these yourself. If you're going to do a reading comp then have a detailed look at this yourself and make sure you can answer all questions. Might sound silly but you'd be surprised.

It might be well worth looking at the Chief Examiner's report on the Dept. website, they point out a lot of useful stuff.

Your approach will greatly depend on whether your student is taking a higher or ordinary level paper. Massive difference between the two!! Most complex part of the (H) paper is the redacción question, where the candidate has to write an opinion piece on one of a choice of two topics. Also the part where they are given a phrase in spanish that they must express in spanish using differnet words catches alot of them out. For the oral - both (H) & (O) have a set of 5 role plays that they learn off - available on examinations.ie. Pre-prepared apart fom one unseen question at the end, then the usual oral exam topics.
    Best of luck!
