I can confirm that the original post was correct (though short lived). I had looked at the argos website last night and indeed it was 949. Don't know when it reverted. Was tempted to go in at 9am but I've asked instead for a quote from Richer Sounds for a similar system.

+1 it was definitely 949 last night. Also, the freeview tuner isn't suitable for Ireland. Presume it doesn't have mpeg4.

    Hi

I looked for this in Dundrum Argos last sunday - they were sold out.

I called in to powercity on way home to see if they would match the offer - and they did :):) €949 and no delivery charges.

Might still be available on their site

    Happy Hunting

Also when setting this up you have to choose either UK or Irish settings - I am pretty sure it will receive mpeg 4 etc.

Are you sure? The Argos link states:
Please note that the digital and Freeview features of this TV are not available in the Republic of Ireland

    Sorry people!

The irony is, if that is the correct phrase, that this was on the argos site for the last two weeks and because it wasn't here I didn't take the plunge till Monday thinking there must be something wrong with the TV/no bargain etc. If I come across something like this again I'll grow some balls and post it :o I would recommend browsing argos.ie price cuts frequently as they do have savage deals on TVs every so often.

The TV is MPEG4 as far as I am aware and the "No freeview etc" statement by most sellers in Ireland is because a lot of the TVs are/were UK orientated/stickered and have Free view plastered all over them and thus the standard disclaimer for Ireland.

P.S. It was home delivery only.
