When i'm recording a channel, and then go to watch another channel, i get an error message saying loss of signal etc and to power off at mains. (this does not solve the problem) if i go back to the channel i was recording it will display no problem. However if i cancel the recording, and then pick another channel, it will display no problem !!

Sky have said the following is my only options : it will cost €100 for an engineer to call out and look at it, or else up-grade to HD, costing €30, and when doing the up-grade the engineer will check the cables etc........

would i not be better off just to cancel my subscription, as i have sky+ for over a year now, and leave if for a few weeks and re-join as a new customer ???

    any ideas people ???

Sounds like one of the two cables is not working, try to disconnect each in turn and see what happens.

If disconnecting one leads to a total lose of signal, but disconnecting the other makes no difference, you know which one is not working.

This assume you have two cables leading to a dual/quad LNB.

i took out the 2 cables from the back of the sky+ box.

Put one into input 1, and got a signal.

when i took it out and put into into input 2, there was no signal....

second cable, did not work in either input 1/2
