working cocker pups...

    a shooting buddy of my is looking for a working cocker pup.
    any body know where there is a litter with good blood lines.
    anyone got any opions on them as to what are they like to hunt and retrieve

    You could do worse than contact the cocker spaniel society of Ireland they have held a open field trial in October & the next one is on the 25 November .
    Cockers as a breed are very good hardworking spaniels, very busy & will retrieve virtually any game ESS etc retrieve, they may be small in size but have big egos & hearts usually, so they are capable of working all day & can make quartering retrievers look sluggish & ESS look average. Nowadays they are possibly at a peak of popularity & of working abilities in the UK & suggest a similar patterns starting to emerge in Ireland to ,obviously some will still be short of the mark but overall they are very effective hunting spaniels .
