That would be madness... The annual rates for so called "big engine" cars are crazy already. People will stop paying these rates if they are to go any higher.

You've heard of The Greens, right? Getting rid of "big engine cars" are part of their evil plan manifesto :(

With the greens gone now I suspect they will scrap the tax based on emissions and return to the old system.

As for a rise in fuel. Would a dog eat meat on good friday..;)

But there is a global push for carbon trading, credits etc. I don't forsee emissions tax going anywhere but higher. Hopefully i'm wrong.:(
I drive a small diesel but its pre 2008 so i pay 300 odd euro to tax it. No fair!

Surely they will just adjust the pricing of each of the emission tax bands and leave the old cc based pricing alone apart from maybe a 5% rise. I cannot see them increasing the €2000 rate though but Im sure they would want the average guy in a family saloon back paying €400 or so.

I'd expect increased rates across the board. I can't see why they'd make an exception for the top rate - apart from anything it'd be seen as favouring the wealthy.

I'd expect diesel to go up and motor tax rates to go up, A and B more than the higher rates.

Since they "loaned" us 90billion.........we're owned by europe now....be prepared for worse to come, you thought the speed camera vans were bad..

Everything car related will go up, we're easy targets....:(

If they as reported have resorted to taking cash from their sacred Mr & Mrs Pensioner then you can be sure fuel, motor tax and possibly even vrt will be taking a steady hit
