I have a car waiting on me in Fermanagh does anyone know when the VRT will be updated in the New Year as I have 28 days from entering the car into the state to get it done according to my insurance. Do they update the site from jan 1st.
Not a lot in the difference but if it saves 300 then I would wait.

Yes they will be updated, but you run the risk of the rates going up, or some other revenue-raising trick being implemented.

    The Budget could be nasty!

+1 I would do it before this budget, VRT will defo be hit so doing it now could save you the 300 you mentioned!

The VRT amount is done on the month and year of registration. So unless your car was originally registered in January 1st then you won't save anything.

Does your local NCT centre not now advise on the VRT to be applied to importing a car? Because it can vary depending on the extra's on the car & how roadworthy it is?

If you are caught driving the car in the meantime you will have it taken of you and receive a fine. I would prefer the 300 tbh.

Not true, you now have 28 days from the day you bring a car into the state to present it for registration.
