I noticed there the other month teletext on BBC1 was gone but it was still there on BBC2. Then the other week it disappeared from there too.

Is it gone for good? UTV&Ch4 did away with it years ago but I still used BBC for the news and stuff.

It's not on Satellite, hasn't been for ages. Perhaps UPC changed to Sat feed. Freesat & Freeview use MHEG5 text, like Saorview and Sky uses OpenTV for text. UPC must have been using a Terrestrial feed.

There is currently a 'traditional' (VBI) teletext service on Channel 4 on satellite, though only of interest for horseracing etc followers!

if there is no teletext whatsoever on Channel 4 via UPC, maybe its taken from Freeview? or the teletext being chopped out for some reason

BTW, at someone's house with UPC MMDS in the Cork area, I see there is also zero teletext on 'Setanta Ireland' , even though this channel certainly has 'traditional' teletext on SKy

There is traditional teletext on Setanta Ireland on UPC. It was gone for ages after the Setanta GB collapse but has recently resumed.

As for Ceefax, has been discussed numerous times over on Cable/MMDS. Here's the latest thread:
