    Can I ask this here?

    What are the chances of me getting stopped for having no motor tax between Kilkenny and Dublin this coming Friday afternoon/evening? I've got the chance of free tickets to the Top Gear show at City West for my boys who would love to go to it and don't get many treats these days and it looks like the only way I have of getting there is driving but I haven't got a valid tax disc. Would I be mad to risk it?

    Can't you buy a tax disc for one month or three months or something? You can in the UK, not sure about Ireland.

    As for the chances of getting caught...you say your kids don't get many treats these days, could you afford to lose the car? If not then tax it ffs. Why risk losing the car and all the fines and fees associated with that just for some free tickets to Top Gear live?
