    Hello,

Im on a round the world trip at moment. Due to circumstances beyond my control i will have to come home either in December or in early January from either India or Melbourne. 2 questions:

Can i use my ticket to transfer into a flight home. Im india and it goes other way. I know this is a long shot and ive asked trailfinders but maybe someone has had experiences with this?

Does anyone know how to get cheap last minute flights? Does the turning up to the airport thing work or not? prices from Mumbai are not too bad but the ones from OZ are scandalous. Otherwise is it just the internet, skyscanner etc.

    Anyway thanks for the help

flights at that time of year are gonna be expensive. India will be considerably cheaper to get back from, try Airasia, if they fly to london, i got cheap last minute flights from KL with them

Last minute you generally get what's called a Y class ticket. It's generally about 2 or 3 times the price of what you'd pay booking 4 to 6 weeks in advance.

Book asap from India. USe Skyscanner, Kayak and the websites of the individual airlines. I got a good last minute deal with Emirates from Delhi last year.
Def don't just show up at the airport.

If you can't renegotiate your RTW ticket try Kingfisher or Jet Airways from Mumbai to Heathrow, they will probably be the cheapest.
