How effective are dv cameras as still cameras??

I need to get camera and was thinking about a digital SLR, However I'd also like a DV camera. Can DV cameras take high quality stills ? Or is it one or the other. Cheers

Just get a DSLR with video..... most DSLR cameras have a minimum of 720p video which is excellent because you have video with the clarity of photography! most movies and tv shows this year are shot using Canon 5D and 7D dslr
