The Taoiseach's responsibility.

I'm just thinking lately on V.Brownes pushing of Cowen over admission of responsibility for the current crisis.

Outright, Cowen stated "I don't accept that and I will defend my position throughout my career in any decisions I took and the context in which I took them and the rationale in which I took them."

The question I'm asking is, what is reasonable to expect? What should the office of Taoiseach entail in this regard?

Surely as Taoiseach, and as the political leader of the country it should be his job to say that the buck stop's here. Leadership is about the burden of responsibility, so many people ignore that(Thus we have some poor excuses for mangers in the world), but the mark of a true leader is someone who recognizes their due and in Cowen's case, even if he never put a foot wrong, isn't it his job to say that as leader and finance minister he was responsible for bad decisions even if at the time they thought they were the right ones. Isn't that the burden of the job?

It strikes me as the very root of the current crisis is the unwillingness to admit responsibility and if you won't recognize the fault, then how do you expect to fix the problem?

Cowen and FF are in power so long now they've lost touch completely, they're arrogant beyond belief and Cowen himself appears to view his electorate with something bordering on contempt.

Take responsibility? Not at all, sure it was all Lehman's fault and we're just caught in a global recession didn't you know? Cowen is still clinging to power in spite of the fact that close to 90% of the country want him and this government gone. These people need to be dragged out of Leinster house by the ear at this stage.
