The brother in law has a Panasonic TXP50X20L with both MPEG2 and MPEG4 tuners according to the manual, problem is he can receive analouge from the divis transmitter but he cannot get DTT from it.
On the tuning menu it says between 80 and 90% signal strength on channel 26,33,34 and 48 but there is no signal quality or when there is it is only about 10%.He has the country set to Germany to enable the cable tuner.
He is using a wideband grid aerial with a wolsey wideband masthead amplifier which can be adjusted from 12 to 25 dbs.
Anyone any suggestions as to why he cant get DTT.
Forgot to say he is in South West Dublin

Presumably a high gain amplifier like that could give good signal strength readings with no gain in quality.

The digital power output at Divis is well below the analogue. Also Three Rock transmits analogue on 29 & 33 which are used for Divis Freeview.

Probably just the case of simply not enough "grunt" to get the current DTT multiplexes from Divis at such a distance, even if analogue seems OK. Signal strength data isn't hugely important, signal quality is.

As Tom Slick mentioned, channels 29 & 33 co-channel with Three Rock analogue so reception for these is pretty much out.

    Thanks for the replies lads,
I was looking at the ukfree tv site for Divis and it says that Mux 1,2,A and B are transmitted at 2300 watts while on the BBC NI site it says that the analogue channels are transmitted at 500 watts from Divis.
Mabey I have read them wrong but at that rate I reckon he should get the DTT channels?

    500kw - As in 500000 watts!

    The actual output for each mux from Divis is 29 - 2.3 kW 33 - 2.3 kW, 23 - 2.3 kW, 26 - 2.3 kW, 48 - 1 kW, 34, 800 W

Thanks for clearing that up for me Sam I thought it was only 500w and not 500000w,he will just have to wait till the full DSO then.
