Audi A3 Clutch Slave

    Hey all,

I am wondering if you could help at all. I am just finishing replacing the slave cylinder on my girlfriends A3 1.9 TDI (thankfully it was external!) When I replaced the slave I noticed that the o-ring on the quick disconnect was missing. Replaced it with a selection of generic ones but still had fluid leaking. I then paid Audi €3 for one o-ring but again had the same problem. I am starting to think I am missing another piece but for the life of me can't figure out what. The connection is essentially a conical shape with an o-ring which presses into the slave housing.

Anyone have any clues as to where I could be going wrong.

    Really appreciate any ideas.

    Thanks,

    John

Are you pushing the pipe fully into connection?

It may require a strong push to get it fully home

Yeah, it's definitely in fully. Can hear it "click" into position.

Thanks Plug, tried this, and reconnecting the old slave but have the same issue with the connection not sealing.

Did Audi just give you any old O ring?
I remember in work I was doing a clutch in a Mondeo and when I was putting back in the pipe the same thing happened me. I lost the rubber grommet thing that seals it and had to order a new pipe. It sorted it. Are you using a genuine part or spurious slave cylinder?

Nope, it's a genuine seal and a genuine slave cylinder. Might have to look into ordering a new clutch line :( Given an o-ring is €3, not looking forward to the bill!

Give him the vehicle identification number and see then. Sometimes parts will change/modified and sometimes the lads in parts might not be the smartest!

    Plug,

Thanks again for your help. Rang Audi again, this time with the chasis number and it turns out they gave me the wrong o-ring.......the one I need should have a flange on it apparently. Anyways, should have it Friday and fingers crossed up and running.

    Regards,

    John
