Just quick question regarding Fund Accounting jobs in ireland, but is it standard for people to do the accounting exams or do they encourge other qualifications?

Might be a stupid question but just thought that i would ask it, as i would like to do accounting exams, so that if i turned out not to like FA that i would have the qualifications and would be easier to switch jobs.

'They' would appreciate any accountancy/finance based qualification but I don't see any fund accounting course being held in higher regard than say ACCA so I'd do the latter and then you can always leave FA if you don't enjoy it.

Ive worked in fund accounting for years, ACCA or CFA are the way to go i think, they are well appreciated in the industry. The other courses run by the institute of bankers for example arent really much use in my opinion, i did a cert in mutual funds, waste of time really imo.
