ANPR or other?

Drove past a small, white van with blacked out windows yesterday. It was moving on the M50. There were 2 circular shapes in the back window, bottom right; the lower one was larger. There was also a long metal pole on the roof.

Could this have been cameras in the back? Or something like a Googlestreet?

I thought the ANPR vehicles are supposed to be marked.

After all, they claim to be "a speeding deterrrent, not revenue raising" (cough cough...)

ANPR has nothing to do with speeding, it's mounted on patrol cars and checks number plates against a database. What you saw sounds like it might have been a camera van. If it wasn't parked, though, then it wasn't in use.

There are new speed checking vans on the roads now, perhaps it was one of them
