    Hi All,

Trying to think of a song for our recessional. Our church singers have suggested a few, such as from this moment by Shania Twain etc. No offence to Shania fans but I'm just not into it!

I would love something upbeat and suitable for the church. I'm raking my brains.............................

    You're very welcome

Another suggestion would be 'I can't help falling in love with you', except in the style of the version from The Snapper as opposed to the Elvis original or UB40 version.

Best of luck with it all :)

Not to be confused with the Current Economic Climate (as it used to be known), a recessional song is the final song in a religious ceremony. For a wedding, it's the song being played as the bride and groom walk down the aisle together as they leave the church. As such, it's often a 'joyful - there they go off on their lives together - what a happy day' type song.

:D Lovely explanation! Choosing the recessional song has been much harder than choosing the first dance! Just have to see what the OH thinks about the above suggestions as I like them both!

Jesu Joy is another great piece-either instrumental or sung- for the recessional!
For Baby (for bobbie) is another really great one for recessional

In a Country Churchyard. I know Chris De Burgh but it's lyrics are really lovely.

I had Ode to Joy :-)

Barbie Girl that's gas, I'm having In a Country Churchyard as my entrance song! :) I just love it. and I was thinking last night that I might move it to be the recessional song. Its a sign!!!! I thought I might cry if I had Pachbel's cannon as the entrance as I can't even listen to it without welling up! I'm such a sap! :o

i know in quite alot of churchs now, the songs and music must be religious based...alot of modern pop songs are forbidden to be played in the church.

i guess it depends on what church you are part off, but any weddings i went to, i know the couple were restricted to what music they had. it had to be christian music.
