give the girl a chance- she might be talented- give her the benefit of the doubt.. it may not necessarily be nepotism! She seems like an interesting character with her head on her shoulders.. although i've only read 1 interview with her- but she certainly seemed likeable and indeed smart in that interview.

I think that's the point though.. you're meant to be talented BEFORE you get the gig, and be chosen because of your talent, not because of who your Da is..

How do you know that she isn't talented?

Don't you think that RTE might have done some screen tests with her?

How does one prove your talent for presenting BEFORE doing it anyway?

I know that there is a hint of nepotism here, Ryan name and all that, but I know this something she's always wanted to do, got experience in US etc, so surely we should wait till we see her in action before passing judgement?

Listen if you had a daughter and could help her out in any way you would. Yea when Gerry was alive he would of put her in the public eye because she felt she could have a future in it, is it nepitism? ... well yes - but who cares if i could help my son out to get a cushy number i would and i wouldnt blink an eye!

On another note people in here say Gerry wasnt telented- well IMO he was great at what he did- yeah sometimes he said mad stuff- but he was Irelands shock Jock and was great at it- When he interviewed somone about money he would be bigging himself up with his New york trips- but when he was talking to some family who had just become unemployed he could come down to that level and dealt with it great. I miss him on Radio- i could give out to my mate and say "did you hear that eegit on the radio today" but i listened and enjoyed his show.
