That MG is a fine lookin car for that money. looks more €20k than €4k. Think you'd be sorry you got it after a few weeks, there just not practical. Its more of a car for the weekends you have alongside another everyday car.

That merc is good value as well, you'd get years out if it, and wouldnt age in looks Either.

    The volvo looks real borin.

Nice golf as well, another good car. If you go for it make them remove those horrible lexus lights on the back, looks a rite skanger wagon.

    :-)

    Good luck!

The 03 S60 is a very nice car, it's a turbo but there is a definite 'turbo lag' which I found could be dangerous when puling out of side roads on wet days because of the rear wheel drive. You'd be sitting there waiting for a gap in the traffic, then when the time was right you'd hit the gas, the car would take off slowly and then just as you were half way through the turn into the main road the turbo would cut in and if you weren't careful with the right foot the arse of the car could start going places you didn't want it to go!

A big negative about the S60 for me was the fact that on Volvo radios there is no mute terminal so an aftermarket car kit cannot mute the radio. If you're on the road a lot and listen to the radio and need to take calls on a car kit, you'll have to buy a Volvo with a factory fitted car kit, otherwise forget about it.

The boot on the S60 isn't as big as it looks, if you need to carry the likes of two golf bags you will find that the C180 has way more space in the rear than the Volvo but as you're also looking at an MGT I guess that's not a primary consideration.

Phew! This thread had me worried for a second! I thought it was StandardToaster changing his Prodrive Impreza for a C180 or a golf!

    Alright Lads,

I've been needing to change the car for a while now and the time has come!!
Don't have a great knowledge of cars to be honest so any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking to spend 5k (preferably less), the main factor is reliability and something that won't have me back and forth to the garage to be fixed also a minimum 1.4litre.
    I'd do about 10k miles a year.

At the moment I have been considering the following

    Merc C180 '02

    MG TF '04

    VW Golf '03

    Cheers

whats with the completely different car types, do you know what type of car you actually want? have you kids or do you want a petrol or diesel

tbh them cars are about as similar as FF and a neo nazi extremist group
