Acre to Hectare

First time posting on the farming forum but a long time reader, basically I have been trying to convert the acreage we have to hectares, on the old Ordinance Survey maps we have 80 acres, however when i enter this into an online conversion calculator it varies in how many hectares that is, if normal acre is selected it is 32 hectares, if Irish acres are selected its 52 hectares, does anyone know what the exact conversion is?

I hectare is 100m x 100m or 10,000 M2 (metres squared)

1 Acre = 0.4046863 Hectares
1 Hectare = 2.471044 Acres

So 80 Acres = 32.3749 Hectares, to be exact.

Forget about the Irish Acre, not used anymore.

I'm visiting from the US for a month and one thing is a mystery: why is it that Ireland has converted almost completely from English to metric measures, but the notable exception is that real estate ads are always stated in acres, and not in hectares?

bhami, we use both still quite a bit for various things. Especially older people.
Land and house size, may be just because the number is bigger.
We still go for a pint.
