Laptop for travelling?

    Right, so in May I will be leaving Ireland for 13 months during which I will travel to 12 countries, 9 of which are 3rd world or developing countries.

    I will be living out of a backpack for the year and will have very limited access to repair services and so on.

    I need to find a small, light, reliable piece of hardware.

    Essentials are;

    Webcam and mic for skype
    Wifi
    13" screen (min)
    2gb DDR2 menory
    Enough processing power to play games like Football manager
    Good battery life (more than 5 hours)

    Optical drive would be nice but I could live without it.

    And if at all possible, sub €500

    This will mostly just be used for uploading blogs and skyping with family, it doesn't have to be a world beater of a machine but I'd rather not have something that struggles to tab between windows at the same time!

    Any suggestions?
