What does the USB connection allow? Pics and/or movies?
If movies, what formats are supported?

Here is the link to the page : http://www.aldi.ie/ie/html/offers/special_buys3_15089.htm

Think it might be the user manual PDF
But it might be a different model (only going by the picture so not 100% sure)

    Hope this helps

I wonder would it be better to put money towards a blu ray system if buying now. With these systems unless they have digital in, theres no way to feed surround sound in from a blu ray player or game system

amazon seem to have a few blu ray systems in £200-300 price range

I have a ps3 and lg tv which i want to hook up to surround speakers.
Would this have suitable connections for such?
I also have a sky box, would speakers be of any use to it?

There should be stereo inputs but probably no digital inputs. So it will probably give you upmixed stereo but only proper 5.1 surround sound from the dvd's it plays

I have one, its fine for the price and works well enough. I plug my USB drive into it and it plays most formats AVI,DIVX etc. Speakers are only ok and I have upgraded those now and its a vast improvement.
