as part of my orthodontic treatment I got 2 extractions last thursday on the left had side of my mouth, one on the upper and one on the lower jaw. These were quite difficult to remove and the area is still quite sore so I was wondering if its normal to still feel pain, also im due to get the same done on wednesday on the right hand side of my mouth but im weary of going ahead with this until the pain on the left hand side is completely gone, please advise?

I suggest you talk to your dentist.

Couldnt that be the case for every question asked here, deeming this forum pointless?

I can't give a dentists opinion OP but as a patient I had a tooth out last Wednesday and I'm still finding it sore and too painful to eat on that side. I'm finding that it's getting a little better everyday though so I'm not worried. If you feel yours is sorer than it should be contact your dentist. Definitely contact him of you think it's getting worse as it certainly shouldn't be doing that.

its not abnormal to feel some discomfort or even pain for a few days after extractions.best to keep your appointment for thurs, let the dentist have a look to make sure everythings ok and if youre still bit sore maybe ask your dentist to postpone other extractions til next week

Ok I went back to the dentist and he said I have a dry socket on the lower extraction and he also prescriped me antibiotics,Its not that painful now however if I was to bite some on that side and something stuck in that hole it would be excruciating,I also I find it hard to imagine gum will form over that hole as its so big,

gum heals at the rate of 1mm per day. so if you imagine that as a circle, it decreases in diameter by 2mm per day. you'll be grand!
