What is the story re NCT now? is there still a backlog? Do they write out to notify you?

they do not inform you that your NCT is due - its upto you to figure it out yourself - if you dont get it done - you could be caught by the Gardai for having an invalid NCT.

(I think they send a letter for first NCT)

Yeah, they send you a letter for the first NCT and after that you're on your own.

I have a '96 Fiesta and the NCT is up next February and I got a letter last week telling me all the different ways I can book it...

Book it online yourself if its due. I booked mine earlier on today for Tuesday.

While we're on this question, my N.C.T is up in March if I booked it early and it failed, is the three or so months left on the current N.C.T still valid?
