best thing you can do is go lamping with some1 experienced for a few nights to see how they do it

The experienced person will either have an electronic fox caller or else will use their hand to make a noise and will call him. I personally think the hand way is way better if done properly.

If it was sat night, around me was way to bright. Dark windy wet nights means you can get closer without spooking them,( if spooked not much of chance of calling them in,) then the electric caller or back of hand kicks in.

it was lashing rain and de wind would have blowed you away:eek: but didnt see a hate.must get out again.does it have to be real late for them or just when its dark???

Once its good and dark you can start lamping!
Your better off (especially if your using a shotgun) to try fields with no sign of any foxes in them!

Make sure its a good size field, stand with your back close to the ditch making sure the winds in your face, and call for maybe 10 or 15 minutes moving the lamp back and forth, nice and steady, across the field all the time while your calling!
If there's any foxes in the area they should appear within this time!

On a calm night a fox will hear every noise so sssshhhhh
When the nights get froster food will get scarse:DGood caller works well now!
Wet and windy night still the best!!
Are you shooting with shot gun or rifle??

The fog might be more a problem than the frost these nights!

Calm frosty nights are far from ideal for lamping but you can still get foxes if your quiet (no talking, use hand signals), and use the call to bring the foxes to you, and nottry and sneak up on foxes or go into fields that you see eye's from the road!
    They'll hear every move!

I find a bowl of rice usually works

When using a .22 shot placement will be the key to success! So get a target up and get praticing.
