Hi - I've searched for this but can't find the answer. I'm just trying to find out if you can pick up 4.8e with an 80cm dish?

Is there a list of satellites that you can get from here anywhere?

    Thanks :)

You will not get the Nordic beam but you should have no trouble with the Europe beam, try 11766 H 27500 3/4. Go to Lyngsat to see footprints and dish sizes required for all sats. Below is a list of strongest transponders compiled in the UK, Alsat forum. I haven't checked much lately but I would probably get all of those except 4, 7, 11 and 34.5 West on my 110 cm dish. There is an Irish list but it is way out of date.

I had it working on one of the lidl dishes along with 28e, 19e and 13e using a multi-lnb bracket. (didn't look at it much though).

At the minute I've only got 28e, 19e, 15e and 13e working so I'm just wondering what else I should be able to get.

Note - I don't think I can get many west satellites because of a poorly positioned neighbours house ;)

1 West is the strongest anywhere on the arc for me, BBC World on 11862. 9 East is also very strong.

Just for comparison I'm in Mayo with a 80cm dish - I can get

    42/39/28/23/19/13/9/7/5 E
    1/5/8/12/15/30/43 W

obviously not all the transponders and some drop off with the weather. You're a 100 miles further East so should get a stronger fix on certain transponders (depending on your setup). 80cm dish is no good for any feeds though. I tend only to watch FTA sport on the main sats so probably haven't pointed the dish at 8W or 43W in years....

85cm Dish in Drogheda, gets me 13/19.2/23.5/28.2 and that is it! Have real trouble with some of Cyfra HD stuff on 13, the other 3 satellites are booming.

Sorry, SG2100 Moteck Motor. Dish is a Metronic Transparent as recommended by the good folk on here.

I have also in Drogheda 110cm dish with multi LNB from 1W to 19E including 4,8E, 9E, 13E also(see the picture) SkyUK have in different dish. Tried up to 23,5E but wasn't good strength of signal for 23,5E if the middle of dish focused to 4,8E Using 10x1 and 4x1 diseqC switch for receivers DM800HD, DM500 (now changed for Openbox S9 HD)

Your motor mustn't be lined up on the arc properly, as it seems to be fading off as it goes west.

Cheers for that, I'll see if I can find someone to take a look.

You will get European beam with 80 cm dish, for Nordic beam needs 2.4 m dish.:)

I get Nordic channels perfectly on a 1m dish using a good quality LNB. Based in Meath

I picked up 7 east last week by accident but unless you are Turkish or have a love for M6 Suisse there is no point.

There is allot of rubblish on most of the channels but some interesting viewing too, if you get my drift :) BTW I can be picked up 4.8E no problem, I just scanned it and at 57% it has found 362 services.

It depends what you mean by "some", if you mean all the Canal + channels and dozens more besides than would ever be viewed, then yes only "some" channels.

Can you receive all transponders with your 1m dish?

    Canal+ channels? Canal+ is on 1 west, not 4.8/5east?

Are you getting muddled up with satellites here?

I would be very surprised if your getting nordic beam on 5east as i know people in England that struggle with that beam in NE UK.

1 west nordic beam again is near enough impossible to pick up here in Ireland, The Stronger K1 beam that has a lot of canal+ channels on can be picked up as far west as Dublin/east coast on a 1m dish, but then the footprint really drops away and is impossible to recieve here in the west of Ireland.

To clarify, I was referring to the Nordic channels on 0.9W Int.707/Thor 2,3.

I'm currently recieving a couple of hundred channels on 0.9W form many different transponders, I've listed below the first few there current signal strenght. Hope this helps!

    SNR
    11292,H,24500,5/6 - 100%
    11246,V,24500, 5/6 - 84%
    12607 V 27500 3/4 - 65%
    11228 H 24500 5/6 - 95%
    12527 H 27500 3/4 - 75%
    11324 H 24500 5/6 - 100%
    11308 V 24500 5/6 - 81%
    11356 H 24500 5/6 - 96 %
    11260 H 24500 5/6 - 100%
    11277 V 24500 5/6 - 81% ( Canal +)

The T1, T2 and K2 beams are very strong here in Ireland, infact I find some of the T1 beams stronger than Astra 2. The K1 beams are hit and miss, some transponders strong and then some K1 transponders (eg the canal+sport HD and TV2 EPL) are very weak.

I once set up a dish in the east of England where I succesfully recieved all the nordic beams on both the old 1 west and the 5 east slot, now the nordic beams where weaker, but more than recievable.

Mar1us, how is your sky channels signal, reason is that am in Lucan too with 80cm motorised, however my SNR for sky channels under 50% and breaks up when raining

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭mar1us

@ Sky news for example i have SNR 71% and is rainning and windy dish size is 1.1m

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭sammyano

Ok thanks, I planning to look towards a fixed dish as my 80cm is really giving my hassle, breaking up when it's raining and can't even get more than 55% snr on normal day
