    Hi all,
I'm new here so sorry if this has been posted already! I'm thinking of getting a nissan qashqai and wanted your advice? I currently drive a 2009 ford fiesta & find it's eating petrol! Can anyone advise is the qashqai economical on fuel I'm open to diesel or petrol. Or if anyone has any other recommendations for economical cars similar to a qashqai.
    Thanks :)

Auris 1.4 d4d? Uncle changed from a 08 petrol Corolla saloon to a 10 reg Auris 1.4 d4d recently. Hes thrilled with the Auris. Holds the road much better than the Corolla he reckons and very light on fuel.

Also, Fiesta and Qashqai are a fair bit different in terms of size anyway.

Thanks John I had actually looked at an auris a while ago but don't think I love it!! I've changed cars a few times over last few yrs so want a car that I LOVE & doesn't cost me an arm & leg to run!! I know it will be a step up from fiesta to qashqai

Your welcome Kar086, Modern small capacity Peugeot diesel engined cars are suppose to be pretty light on fuel. Having said that I'm not particularly a fan of French cars and modern diesels can be troublesome. There are plenty of threads here on DMF failure, turbo failure, injector failure and other niggly things that can go wrong with them. Any savings you make on fuel could conceivably be wiped out quickly if you were to experience any of the afore mentioned problems. I'm sure there are other marques that give the Peugeot a good run for their money in this regard though also. I'm a bit surprised that tha 09 fiesta was so heavy on fuel but I don't know what you were driving prior to this or comparing it against.

As for a car you LOVE Kar086 I'm afraid I cant help you there as only you can answer that question;). Suppose the best thing to do would be to go to the main dealers and test drive and look at as many as possible. I assume if your buying new you will be waiting until the new year?

Do the maths first. The cost to trade up will put alot of fuel in your existing car.

A Qashqai is a bigger heavier vehicle and will use more.
