Replacing headlight '05 Avensis

    Hi all,

Anyone got any clue how to change the dipped beam, driver side bulb on a '05 Avensis. If it was the high beam or anything like that it would be fine but the dipped one is blocked by the wiper resevoir and I just can't get to it.

I'm assuming I have to either one of two things and thats take the head lamp fully out, which invovles removing the front bumper so I'm told. Or I think I need to take out the wiper resevoir so I can get access to the back of it. I've no idea how the hell to do that mind you.

    Anyone got any ideas?

You should be able to just stretch your arm in, remove the cover at the back of the lamp, remove the clip and the holder for the bulb, and pull the bulb out. It is tricky but can be done. You should not need to remove the bumper or the unit.

mind you, it its anythin like my own, the bulb holder will probably be melted, hopefully not.

Edit, meant to say, remove the plastic trim on that side (at the front of the engine), its only held in with plastic screws, takes 20 secs

Yeah I got the trim off no bother. The casing on the back opens but I don't think I've enough room to take teh connector off and the bulb out. With the casing open I've about an inch of space to work the connector off and get the bulb out.

I have two relatives who went back to main dealer to get it done, when they went there they also got two new light units i think there was a quality issue with them, cant remember what the problem was sorry.

There was an issue with the bulb holders detaching or deformimg. Usually picked up cv tIe first nct and replaced for free even if outside 36 month warranty.

OPs problem sounds like a regular blown bulb.
