    Hi all,

I was just wondering if any of ye have ever done any scuba diving in the Canaries, and if so, how was it, and what are the places to head for, and to avoid, etc.
    ..
Would be very grateful for any information you can put my way about it. I've heard the Canaries are great for this kind of thing, but I wouldn't mind hearing it from the horses mouth, as they say.

    Anyway, thanks for your time.

    Regards,
    Anto

I've just got back from Lanzarote and did a few dives with calipso Diving in Costa Teguise. http://www.calipso-diving.com/

It was very good, I would highly recommend it.

Have dived a few of the islands. IMO the best diving is to be had on El Hierro.

A quiet island. If you want good nightlife go elsewhere, but the food is excellent at any of the restaurants, esp. fish dishes.

We did a really good dive in a place called Mala. It involves a couple of caves/swim throughs under the lava fingers there. It is accessed through a nudist colony and this gives the dive it's name...Cocks and Rocks:D

    Hi,
I did AOW in the Canaries http://www.manta-diving-lanzarote.com/
who trained my second daughter OW at 12yo. They were very patient and the diving was very good around there. Loads to see. A lovely fish filled shallow bay for first dives and exercises/tasks. I would have no problem recomending them. That was in Lanzarote.

Elder daughter dived there with me but went back to Canaries, Tenerife and used this dive school. http://www.divetenerife.com She was much impressed with them and they had appartment pickup which is a help. Can't remember where exactly she stayed.

There are certain creatures that can be seen in the waters at certain times of the year on a more frequent basis. I can't remember the best times to go.........

I've been diving with this crowd every year for about the last 8 years.
They're right on a little beach which is also amazing for snorkelling and relaxing between dives (and a good place for kids to play if you're holidaying with family). Shore diving on the house reef (walk out of the dive centre and into the sea) is fantastic - lots of life and beautiful sites, including resident grouper Felix, and a fab open amphitheatre type cavern, lots of corals, seahorses occasionally, rays, angel sharks, million of fish, I just LOVE it here. Night diving from here also amazing.
They have a hard boat also and go to all the sites around the area.
Steve and Wendy are the owners, they look after you well.... I can't wait to go back in June!!! :D

    you won't be disappointed!

    Hey!

Or you could try go to the tropics! Places like the gulf of thailand are very cheap to get to and even cheaper for diving and living expenses!

The diving in the tropics is uncomparable to diving in colder water. As that cold chill stress factor is absent, thus much more pleasant experience!
