Steripen...a word of warning

We decided to get a steripen (journey lcd model) for our month of travelling around Madagascar. The idea being that we'd reduce water buying and also save having to treat the water chemically. Great idea, nice size of product, and fitted well inside my camera case.
Unfortunately it lasted for 5 'charges', then died. Swapped batteries, etc, etc, and still doing a very good impression of being dead.
If you are planning to go anywhere serious I would seriously think as to whether this is a suitable bit of kit, luckily we were not going to be in the wilderness for more than a few days so got by on bottled water...but it could have been so much worse!
This, in my view, is a pretty critical piece of kit, and it obviously is not reliable... I'm looking forward to seeing how and if I can get a refund!!

    Beware!
