Did you have Eye Laser Surgery over 5/10 years ago?

I would like to ask anyone who has had eye laser surgery done over 5 years ago how it has worked out for them? I am considering getting it done but would like to know about the long term effects of the procedure.

The feedback I got from people who got it done in the last few years is that when it works it works brilliantly but when it goes wrong it was the worst thing they ever did. I think the percentage of people unhappy with it is less than 1% but who wants to be in this <1%!

However I do not know anyone who got it done more than a few years ago and would love to hear from you.

If you can tell me what your vision was before and after, what type of surgery you got and how is your night vision / dry eyes etc that would be so helpful.

It worries me to think that no body who had laser surgery over 5/10 years ago wants to comment on it ...

I'd love to get eye laser surgery but I don't know enough about the long term complications (if any) to agree to it.

A cousin of mine had it done many many years ago. He's back wearing glasses again. Not sure how long his eyesight was good for and don't know any of the specifics.

I know others who got it done a few years ago and have no problems and swear its the best thing they ever done.

Thanks Saint Mel. I really appreciate it.

I know most people will still need glasses for reading as I believe laser surgery can only correct one type of vision - so maybe this is what your friend wears glasses for?

I had it done nearly exactly five years ago this month, vision still as good as it was then, fingers crossed theres no noticeable deterioration over the next few years. Personally I had it done through a specialist in waterford that I was familiar with and paid more than going through one of dublin's cut price laser eye centres. I figured that peace of mind was worth a hell of a lot more to me than saving a few bob. Hope that helps!

My sister got laser eye surgery done in Australia about 8 or 9 years ago. She had never needed glasses or anything like that, never any trouble with her eyes at all! :)

She's not on boards, but she always said that it was one of the best things she did. I got it done last year and I can say hand on my heart its the best money I've ever spent! :)
