S3 - An Underrated Road Type?

There is a section of road between Killarney and Ballyvourney on the N22, which contains a very long climbing lane on both sides of the road, swapping halfway in between. There's about 4 or 5 km in both directions. I never see any delays here, ever. And even in the sections where you're on the wrong side of the road, you have a usually fairly empty overtaking lane on the opposite side of the road to overtake in. This type of road makes alot of sense. It's probably faster but debatably more dangerous than 2+1.

Its not even 'debatably' more dangeorus than 2+1, its horrendously dangerous. It increases the closing speed on a potential crash in the central lane to 250km+ in a lot of cases.

It can't be used safely on high traffic sections of road.

Probably more dangerous than WS2, which is itself now recognised to be pretty dangerous. Drivers have a false sense of confidence from the roadspace, over-taking is encouraged and even people over-taking in opposite directions at the same time - very high chance of head-on collision at high speeds.
