Given that the opinion is that there is major corruption and ineptitude within the irish political system which has lead to the direct loose of sovereignty and that the Dail as a place of government is so tainted isnt there a case for the closure of the dail Buildings and the resetting of the seat of our government perhaps in far more appropriate buildings befitting the circumstances the Irish State finds itself in , a moderate building , cost effective , and without the colonial grandureand other obvious associations of Leinster House , a small building , and a building located in the center of the land ? ........

where things are done or not done is as important as how they are achieved , and why , there was never really any point in having a democratic government seated in the house of our last colonial governor, the fact that the state is as failed state , that is not to say that irish people are a failed people , that emmigration now is again a part of the irish experience here , along with unemployment and material poverty warrants what you might be suggesting is an empty gesture be based on whats going to happen here anyway ...........major reform , ... perhaps the irish flag is irrevelant symbolically ?

You can put the asylum wherever you want, the inmates will still be the same, that what counts.

Doesnt matter what went on in that building before or who built it, its whats being going on in there since our independence that is the actual problem.

Relocate the whole lot of them to outer space would be the only effective option. They can lie and cheat the little green men then.

aggreed completely with you while i listen to lehihan giving his speel on the national radion station ... a representative democracy is open to ruin ... thats what we have ... they are all the same ... attitude ... that attitude has cost us the efforts of generations of irish people that hoped for freedom and justice in the tragic past of this country , the names changes post 1916 , so did the symbols ... but the seat of government ? the justicial system , a socio economic system dependent on empire for decades in its so called free state ,on being able to export its poorer people , an economy dependent on multinationals , credit and consuption of rubbish ?

Indeed and the additional spending to do it would seem foolish too.

There have been calls to move the Dail to Athlone so it will be in the center of the country.
