Sun lotion bottles

I did a clear out and have a half dozen bottles of sun lotion, after sun, etc. each with a little bit in the end. How do I clean out the bottles for recycling?

1/3 fill with water and shake, allow to fully drain and repeat at least 3 times.

That's how the IFA recommend farmers clean their used chemical containers for recycling so should be safe for lotions.
