External insulation and cavity thermal looping question...

Ive just put 150mm external insulation on a 90-100mm cavity wall (Im getting the SEI grant), and had the cavity pumped with beads beforehand.

How important is the cavity from the plinth downwards - ie about a 12 inch bit at the base of the wall.

In my place the guy doing the pumping did a good job, but the beads seem to magically stop around the plinth area.
Is this by design or by mistake?

Ill be pumping the walls in my extension soon, and no problem pumping the old part of the house from inside the house - should I pump at the base of the walls to fill up this gap or is there a damp issue?

    Cheers,

    Steve
