    Hi,
I really want to work in Canada for the summer but none of my friends want to go, some cannot afford it. But would it be safe for a first year uni student to go to Canada to work for the summer alone or is too risky and mad idea?. Is it common for people age 19++ to go to another country alone for the summer ?. And does anyone here have any experience of working in Canada for the summer ?

    not risky at all

however you only get to use the under 35 scheme once, and wihtout it you have to apply for a work permit by the regular channels, so ask yourself if you want to waste it on a few months

I wouldnt worry at all about traveling alone!!

im planning on traveling around america for 2/3 months this coming summer.. and im 19. Personally I think traveling alone is a great thing.. you will lear lots about your self! iv traveled around Europe alone and it was fine.. but iv also went on a massive European road trip with almost 20 people.. which was cool too.. basically what im saying is you will learn more about yourself and it will do massive for your independence!!

yes i gotta agree with the above... really think about canada.. personally im waiting till i finish college and then go for a year or so! have you considered europe! if your worried about going alone then europe may be a great idea as your closer to home etc!!

    best of luck!!

Well theyre a student so they can take the student visa and then go again on the under 35 visa in the future.

Im in Canada now, its very safe and lots of work assuming your not picky.
