Ryanair Strategy on KIR-DUB PSO

Since Ryanair announced they were pulling out of the Kerry-Dublin PSO, they've been very clever. Leaving one flight a day (will this even make a profit?) so that Aer Arann couldn't possibly take up on the PSO. The PSO can't be afforded at this time I think, especially with the M7 almost finished. But I can see they're using very clever tactics. Anyone agree/disagree/have anything else to offer?

Well, if Aer Arann were awarded the PSO Ryanair could do what they liked, but Aer Arann would be recieving the subsidy, Ryanair would not. Neither operator would make a profit however.

I hear this route has been cancelled from the 6th September, leaving aside flights already scheduled for All Ireland weekend.

Hearing that Cork- Dublin is gone too. However nothing can be taken for granted with Ryanair, so until they formally announce that they are cancelling those routes we will just have to wait.

Its not just Ryanair and Aer Arann than applied for the PSO. A number of UK carriers did incluiding Flybe.

This thread was started before the PSO renewal was announced.

They already notified passengers who are booked that their flights are cancelled from 6 Sept to 16 Sept.

They are flying 17, 18, 19 but nothing scheduled outside of that which is All Ireland Saturday, Sunday and Monday
