What is the scripted question and answer sheet Cowen is holding in his hands? Appeared in print edition 17/11/2010 of Kleine Zeitung, Austria. Anyone know when this photo was taken? (the front page of the Sunday tribune or irish independent is also just about visible). Could the 12.9% figure be our new Corporate Tax rate (i.e. up 0.4%)???

Are the questions from a journalist, or from the EU??
Here is my quick reading of the document:

    Question:

How do you think the crisis mechanism should address the position of the private sector?

    Scripted Answer:

We have asked the Cominssion to under take preparatory work on the general features of the new mechanism in line with the approach set out in the Task Force Report. We agreed that this should include the role of the private sector among **obscured by hand** of other issues.

    Question:
Did Ireland **Ditto** PM Cameron's position on the EU budget for 2011?

    Scripted Answer:
**Ditto** agreed position on the 2011 Budget - that there should be
    **Ditto** 12.9 %.
**Ditto** weeks ahead for the Council and the Parliament to reach
**Ditto** and I very much hope that they will.

12.9% is probably the votes FF will get in the Donegal South bye-election.

Stretching things a bit here but, IF that number is our new corporate tax rate then biffo would be, at least, demonstrably proven (yet again, but with photos) to have the best moniker of all time. After all, the people are being kept in the dark about our country's finances in order to protect the tax payer...or so their logic goes.

People, this is low-quality AH-style rubbish. Aside from anything else, if you blow it up properly, you'll see that the figure is 2.9%, not 12.9% - that's part of the letter "d" there, probably in the word "and". I somehow doubt the British government want our CT rate to be 2.9%.

    moderately,
