I driver this morning overtook my car and another in front dangerously. Not only did he cross a single white line but also their was a car coming in the opposite direction which he nearly colided with. i have the reg number. Is it worth reporting or a waste of time if no accident resulted

Should have reported it there and then if it was that serious, and its always worth reporting dangerous driving

I'd report it. Nothing may happen, but if you convince a Garda enough, they may go talk to the person.

Report it, sometimes the system it does work as this thread over in Legal Discussion demonstrates.

If it was genuinely dangerous-yes. If you were driving like a caterpillar-no.

Yes and there we have all that is wrong with Irish driving, reading between the lines OP this poster reckons it was caused by your 'slow' driving. The funny thing is he quoted your post but mustn't have read it, as you clearly said "passed you out into oncoming traffic".

I'd be interested in knowing his definition of genuinely dangerous, maybe wearing his beloved rangers jersey next easter sunday down his local might fit the bill.

    by the way it's spelt S a r c a s m

There's a company from Birmingham that do cheap dashboard cameras for just this spot of thing. Digital thing that is HD quality. I'll try and find the link as i'm thinking of getting one myself.

Any chance of a front and back camera setup....would love to catch/report some dangerous driving...and do my part to make the roads safer !!

seriously though - the amount of bad drivers out on the roads today is scary - but its because there is no proper enforcement of the "minor" traffic offences - which contributes to the lack of road awareness on the roads.

Like everyone else I think I drive alright - I'm sure there are plenty of rules like I break, I do occasionally break the speeding limits - however some of them are ridiculously wrong in my opinion, I've driven in Bus lanes and have gone through a red light (as it turns red) ..... I know my driving isn't 100% according to the driving test but I would welcome a proper clampdown which would make the roads safer.... but it would have to be across the board - no exceptions made for gardai/taxi drivers/truck drivers/bus drivers/politicians etc etc
