After all that has gone on, how is it that Fianna Fail still has a support percentage of 17%? Are these people traitors, is it cronyism, a thank you for looking after me during the Celtic Tiger? Sickening to be honest, but then again this is a democracy!

When push comes to shove they'll get a lot more than 17% in the next election.

I'd say more like 1 in 3 will vote for them

out of all my firends/relations/work I don't know anyone who would vote FF now.

People won't vote SF because the vast majority of their policy is ridiculous.

They are not mad; just parochial, small minded, backward, unable to grow up and utterly passive. I agree with desparetc. who said the vote would be actually up on that. Which explains why we are the way we are.

I think possibly 17% are some how joined or involved with them.

Fine Geal same thing, Labour nah that Joan Bruton hasn't a notion what shes talking about, so whose left, you have independents but no other options.

I never ever voted for them and would love to see them get trashed Clown cowen deserves to lose his seat and lenihan should never have been elected.

The morans in Castleknock deserve what they get imagine voting for a family hand me down like lenihan over Joe Higgins they had a choice and made the wrong one.:D

In fairness, I think its SF's policies that are the main reasons people don't vote for them. I have always slightly been right of center myself, I like the policies put forward by FG but I don't think Enda Kenny is the man to put them through. The public just don't take to him and he struggles in the dail to put forward a convincing message. I don't like Labour and their policies but I really admired Pat Rabbitte's display on Prime Time. I thought it really came from the heart, something that is lacking from a lot of politicians who are out of touch with the people. Richard Bruton is the man to lead the next government and if he was FG leader, they would gain a massive percentage in the dail.

So everyone who does not fit into the OP's worldview is insane. How very inclusive. If "we" are to get out of this mess a wide of range of opinions need to be canvassed, for the headlong rush to evolve Ireland into an open, cosmopolitan niverva of multiculturarism has also not seem to have worked, with quangos such as the Equality authority pushing this view.

That's very harsh on the Morans of Castleknock. Did they tell you how they voted? They seem like a nice family.

The way this Country is sometimes it realy would not surprise me that if there was a general election tomorrow ff would be still in power

..especially the views of the corrupt traitors who got us into this 'mess'? Yeah, that might work.

Maybe in Afghanistan they might canvass the Taleban as to how best to get rid of the Taleban.

For the 1st time I am furious that we have been sold out to IMF. Its a pathetic state of affairs.

Shame on FF (who I voted for) They have sold our independence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 784 ✭✭✭zootroid

I don't know how anyone would vote for them. They rose to power at a time when we were at our most competitive; the economist labelled us Europe's shining light. Their policies have brought us to the brink of bankruptcy. And yet people would still vote for them at the next election. Mind-boggling.

    should they now disband

This poll was taken afaik on monday and tuesday before the IMF arrived.
The figure was down one to 17.
I suspect the next one to be down at least 5 to 12%

You need only listen to the apologists on the whineline to understand who these people are.

I doubt they would dispand because they are so stubburn, ignorant to the way the people of this country are suffering, and sadly will be suffering even more so for years to come, seen as the imf are here

Does cancer disband? No. It goes into remission, then grows again to f*** everything up all over again. And that is what Fianna Failure will do. They will be in charge again within 10 years, mark my words - just about when the rest of us have started the recovery from their latest disaster.

Yeah thats the reason people dont vote for SF alright . I wont bother trying to illustrate the various forces which have brought us here. Some within our control others not. You arent interested anyway. Would only inject some grey into the black and white script. Its a big forest if you ever stop looking at the trees.

Supporting FF doesn't make a person an idiot. What would be foolish is voting against them simply because they are FF. When it comes to casting your vote, you should only do so if you are informed and if, after careful reasoning, a person concludes that voting for FF is prudent then they are anything but mad.

You should respect the opinions of others and not simply label them.

True. But what is suicidally foolish is voting for a bunch of crooks and morons, which is what they are and what they were in 2007. People need to look at themselves - if you don't value integrity and honesty in your politicians, then what you get is epic Fianna Failure.

This Country is crazy, people will say that they're doing a good job they will pat them on the back and go to the polling station to vote them in, only in ireland!

There isnt a decent opposition party in this country. I wont be voting for any of them as they stand now.

What a load of crap you are talking there. Stop spoofing and talk some sense. I never said voting FF makes a person an idiot, although I do agree that it does. Take a look at their decisions over the last few months alone and anyone who would even think to vote them in again is silly in my opinion.

Look I agree that a persons view is affected by where they are standing but in all fairness, there isn't one person from any class, social group that hasn't been affected negatively by FF's failed decisions.

It makes perfect sense to me. I didn't say something although I do agree with what was said. Whats hard to understand about that?

Point taken but don't forget that the masses at the polls are your 20, 30 , 40 somethings that have FF in their cross hairs due to the current property crisis and Economy etc .

FF have no Govt. Saving Scheme , Low tax base , Jackie Healy Fooking Rayes to play up to the voters ... They have shot their bolt !

The are well and truly fcuked .. Trust me .

When ff are ousted the annoying thing is that they will still be driven around in BIG CARS everywhere they want to go,who will be paying for that?

I'm a bit skeptical about some of these polls. What will utterly kill FF is the fact that they will lose loads of transfer votes from people who might have voted #1 for independents, possibly Labour etc.

I'm also not entirely sure about the methodology used by Red C e.g. if there is any weighting given to dominant parties etc.

You also have to factor into the equation that when an election does happen, the people who want to vote the Government out of office and into political oblivion will turn out in huge numbers, much higher than would turn out in a 'normal time' election.

So, I would say that FF's seat win could be way lower than predicted by this Red C poll.

The level of anger is also only starting to rise. Just wait 'till they try to introduce property tax or slash welfare!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭Absurdum

A lot of people will probably still vote for a personality rather than a party, it depends how the poll is carried out. If they asked people which party they would vote for, chances are FF are gonna be way down, whereas if they are given a list of candidates or potential candidates, people may overlook the party.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,455 ✭✭✭✭Monty Burnz

Expect to see loads of FF 'personalities' become temporarily independent in the next election, and then re-join FF when they take the suckers' votes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,230 ✭✭✭Solair

We need to publicise the fact that they ARE definitely FF at all times.

I was quite shocked at the non-branded FF election posters during the local elections in Cork last time around.
