    couldnt find anything in the article about the solicitor being struck off !!!

    EDIT: to be fair to the solicitor I'd say theres a lot of cases similar to this which end in a similar way - unethical ....but true...money talks !!

    I'd be extremely bloody careful about using that kind of language ('unethical')

    He says that if his client is paid money his client will not pursue a criminal complaint, but notes that this in itself may not stop a prosecution as the prosecuting authority can always opt to continue irrespective of a victim's wishes.

    The more substantive issue of integrity might well be the evidence given by prosecution witnesses denying that there was any 'put on' for money aspect to the allegations of assault.

    However, that is nothing to do with the solicitor, on what is discussed in this article at least.

    He also says, and this is important, that his client will not pursue a civil claim.

    In other words he is negotiating on a potential civil claim, for compensation, acknowledging at the same time that there are or may be rather criminal proceedings in respect of which the prospective Defendant is seeking comfort which his client can't give.
