We need a new government. Wanna follow me in a quest to (peacefully obviously) overthrow this government. Laugh if u want but i wont sit back and let this happen. I was given great advice when i was young, it was: watch things happen, make things happen or wonder what the hell happened I want to make things happen. I need followers!!! We, the people of the Republic Of Ireland can fix this country, not the fools earning over €200,000 a year to pretend to run this country. Rise up people, have the irish ever backed down before?? Recall 1916? Did we back down?? Rise to the top and stay there!!!!!!!

ha ha ha ... are we gonna have to choose new "leaders" .... where do I send my CV !!!

wanna apply for minister for silly walks*

*=monthy python reference for those that dont know

Seriously though - I cant understand how they are still in politics - there are politicians in all parties who have taken advantage of the public purse.

For the future - it should be about accountability - if a minister, TD or whatever is found to have abused his position - immediate resignation and ban from politics for 5yrs....as well as any possible legal action which may follow.

if someone is in charge of a particular department they need to do their job and take charge of that department.

At the rate this government has gone anyone could do a better job! Its pretty obvious that the first thing needed is pay cuts from them not the people that are paying their wages. Expenses that they use like flights cars etc. I lived in Denmark for a short period and politicians there bought their own cars and drove them themselves just a little example.....

    tommyalph, it's a losing battle.

You won't get support from the passive apathetic Irish public.

Instead you will be sneared at by people who consider themselves better than you.

The Irish public deserve the situation it finds itself in today.

the only problem is the people in power write the laws and create laws which suit themselves and their friends....loopholes etc.

in an ideal world the politicians would be capped at (figures plucked from my head) €80K for TD and €110K for ministers ...no expenses (if you cant afford to get to work earning that amount - you need yer head checked)

if politicians were made to pay for their own travel expenses we would see a huge call for video conferencing and they would suddenly be a huge drive (and incentives) for eco friendly transport and I dare say the government might actually try to get a public transport system that works efficiently.

I'm 17 so maybe you mightn't think I'm to young to give my input but.

    ARE THE IRISH REPUBLIC MAD.

Fianna fail just made a balls of the economy, and were probably goint to vote in Fine Gael? Are you serious? there basically the exact same. Capitalism doesn't work, FACT.

Which party would you like to see run the country?

Make our own party and vote that in! Like a great commander done before, burned his ships so his men had no choice but to fight and win. Our ships have been burned

I will laugh because the truth is,most of these working class /underdog unemployed class could not be bothered, there too busy watching corrie or porn and that is the truth my friend, take a walk at any time of the day or night and do you see anybody on the street?

The publics conception off a working class man is totally wrong, working class people aren't always poor, and poor people arent always working class.

True that some people cannot be bothered but thats where motivation comes in. Are you one of those people that want to watch corrie instead of doin something? Sounds like u cannot be bothered u are giving up. I do not mean this in any abusive or disrespectful way but surely you want something to be done??

Everybody wants something to be done - but the problem is the people who we voted in (and have the power to change things) ... dont want to change things - or are extremely slow in making changes.

which is where the people come in and change it for them. For example, dogs are pack animals, and need a leader, if they dont see one someone steps up and takes over which is what we need. I know its not a great example but its the best i can think of to get this message across

I was wondering about this myself, as in how to go about organising a rally. I wouldn't know where to start personally.

I was wondering if it would be a good thing or not, but to be honest, I think anyone but Fianna Fáil in government now would be better. Even if it was an FG and Labour coalition which only lasted 6months, it would still be better, and then some party might actually be able to secure a mandate.

How would you go about it? A rally outside Áras an Úachtarán calling for Mcalesse to dissolve the Dáil? That would possibly be the most effective way no?

slight difference in culture between us (humans) and dogs .... humans are not a pack animal ....are they ???

especially the Irish - we have been conditioned to just accept the bad - for the last couple of weeks (the build up to the budget) .... the government have been telling us at every opportunity that we must all make sacrafices, everyone will be cut.....but they also come out and say that our corporation tax will not be touched.

its basically telling us .... the big companies need to be allowed to take the profits from our country because they give us jobs - so we must make them happy or we'll have more unemployed out there.

they have also been saying that emmigration is good - there are no jobs here so try another country.... claiming the decrease in social welfare recipients was a good thing - when it was clearly obvious it was people who couldnt afford to live here and have moved on in hope of a better life elsewhere - we are taxed ...and hit with hidden taxes ..... but cant do anything about it !!

Why didn't people get upset over the "Leaving Ireland tax" which was introduced last year - its pub politics .... I'm sure whoever created that was certainly not considering the economy, aviation and tourist industry....Michael O'Leary or someone of similar ideals (its hard to actually say this) ...but Michael O'Leary should be the leader of the "new" party and cut costs - within limits !!

ok...he's a bit of an extreme example - but why cant business leaders take control of the running of the country - after all its a business !! ... common sense would dictate that a minister for finance has financial experience ..... or minister for tourism has a tourism background ... these are the people who would understand what is required in order to benefit the economy/industry.

would love to do that also, and have been "dreaming" about it.

First things first though, how to organise a rally?

Like I say, it would probably have to be a rally outside the presidents gaff (not typing that again with all the fadas), because she has the power to dissolve the Dáil. I don't think marching on government buildings would get the desired result as quickly

that is about registering a political party though. Personally I would be a long way off getting into politics (if I were ever to do so), as there are a number of things I want to do first.

I would say the first priority should be removing the current government and installing a new one asap. Although, I would be interested to hear peoples opinions as to whether it should be done now or after the budget, or if it matters.

This would involve organising a rally, and calling for the president to dissolve the current government.

I wouldn't know how to go about organising a rally though. Any ideas?

Why wouldn't the unemployed in the country start "the unemployed party"

the irony of the unemployed party making the current group unemployed !!

theres a couple of hundred thousand unemployed in this country - some of them are definately better than the current shower in power.

They have been to RDS and there were over a thousand people. All the information should be on the website.

I have thought about it, but like I say, I would be a fair bit off getting into politics, because I have to do a few things with my life yet - arguably to give myself the life experience I need, to have more rounded views on a number of issues.

by the way - I'd love to be part of the new system - but in my current position I don't think I could provide much in terms of policies/political debate or input.

I'm self employed and working 7 days a week at the moment to make ends meet.... dont have time to commit to other matters.

This is your chance to stop trying to make ends meet and make something work for you. Remember what i said at the start of this post, about making things happen

Unfortuantly no. I only know what's on the website. It was suggested to me by another person (who found it suggested on another forum site) and I thought it is a great idea. Other than Letterkenny next week, I don't know.
