I saw this and I knew what to expect going in to the film as I had already read about half of the book but never got the chance to finish it. But I was surprised at how faithful the film was to the original material. The directing was also masterfully done and pretty cool I saw some cool camera tricks I hadn't seen since Martin Scorsese directed Bringing Out The Dead, Martin Scorsese did one great job and everyone was top notch especially Ben Kingsley and DiCaprio and I never though I would jump out of fright especially in a Scorsese film but I did. All in all a solid thriller with a good story and some great performances and for me it's the best film I've seen in 2010 so far.

Wow, I totally disagree. I thought it was cliche. Didn't derive much pleasure from sitting through it in the cinema. It wasn't complete crap but I've seen it all before. As far as the specific shots, I remember a few nice ones alright but nothing really to save a fairly run-of-the-mill film. Each to their own and all that.

I found myself looking up IMDB during the movie to see how long more I had to watch this bore fest.

From the early 60s till the late 80s i was a fanatic for the cinema. I stopped going in the 90s. Id watch a few videos and the odd film on TV.. Any time I did go to the cinema I usually fell asleep after 15 to 20 minutes.. I was adviced to go see Shutter Island. I did. It was brilliant, a masterpiece in thriller "noir" . It was Scorses at his very best. Everything about it was genuis. Best film Ive seen since The Deerhunter

I'd recommend you catch up on a few of the films you've missed out on over the years as this really didn't bring anything new to the table. Masterpiece it is not. Doubt we'll agree on this though.
