I have a Freesat Humax HDR which I find superb.
I have a new Ariel for RTE Digital.
I will get another Humax but am a bit confused which one to get.
    Any help?

Not sure how the two remotes will work together. Will they confuse each other? Even using a one4all, will the same code be used for both?

Also thinking of purchasing the Freeview HD PVR from Humax but as I also have the Freesat version but would also be interested in the question posed by Sam?

    If codes ARE the same...
put piece of polarisor horizontal on remote
    -45 degrees on DTT box
+45 degrees on SAT box IR window

Then tilt left or right for DTT or SAT.

Two remotes is not a great solution anyway, but having to hold them at different angles fails the granny test. Also the Humax remote has a sensitivity issue anyway, so I do not think that will be a good solution anyway since the polarisor will reduce the signal strength.

I'll wait for someone else to try before I buy.

As an aside, what do you think the possibility of a USB tuner stick being made to work for Saorview in the Foxsat products? Obviously it would have to be a Humax stick and enabled by them, but probably two chances.

Sky even supplied a USB DTT stick for their boxes in Italy.

Humax can do it easy. You can't :)

Obviously it would have to be done by Humax, and I would think it would not be high on their list of projects. No profit for them. Mind you, they could bring out a dual tuner DVB-T2/ dual Tuner DVB-S2 version and that would be the STB of choice for all TV viewers inIreland, except those that want pay money to $ky.:)

I think I will try to persuade them.:D

Remotes for the Humax Foxsat HDR and Humax T2 HDR will clash.

Has been discussed on other forums.

However, there is a solution - its possible to re programme one of the remotes

    Try this -

Also, don't forget, Saorview doesn't broadcast the series link function at the moment. When series link is available, I'll be tempted by the Humax Freeview HD PVR myself.

    Here are the instructions.

You will need to change the remote code for one of the units. Off the top of my head:

    1. Switch off the Humax product (via rear on/off switch) you do not wish to change the code for.

    2. Switch on the Humax product you wish to change the code for and also the TV.

    3. Hold down 0 (number zero) and OK on the remote for 5 seconds whilst pointing the remote at the Humax.

    4. The PVR button on the remote will light up and an on screen message will appear on the screen.

    5. Pressing a button from 1 to 6 will change the remote code and pairing for that unit.

    Hope that helps anyone interested.:)
