Chipped focus tddi

Im thinking about getting a Focus van, 03 or 04 which have a 90bhp 1.8 tddi engine. Id be interested in hearing about anyone who drove a chipped one. Plenty of VW's have been chipped but the 1.8 td focus car was not a huge seller here so not much info out there. Seems to cost about €400 and gains of 20-25 bhp are possible. Im curious about the benefits, is it just extra torque rather than speed and does the power have much effect on fuel consumption?

The TDDI is a horrible, horrible engine which is why it wasn't a big seller here.

You would get both extra torque and speed from a chip if the quoted figures are actually true; but I'd just look for a 1.6 TDCI model instead which is a far nicer unit. I think the figures given are what you'd expect to get out of the 75bhp TDDI not the 90bhp one anyway.

Thumbs down for the tddi so. There has been a 1.8td in the Ford range sine the early 90's so im guessing this is the same lump. Probably a bit noisy and rough so.

The 1.6 tdci may be superior but its only in the new shape so id have to throw in another grand or two.
