iPhone not Ringing

Hi, For some reason my newly inherited iphone 3GS isnt ringing out for incoming calls. It vibrates fine and the call comes in and can be answered but it doesnt ring out. In the settings->sounds section the volume slider isn't to the left, and when I cycle through the ringtones available the phone plays them no bother. Can…

Hi,

How do I tell if thats the case ? Afraid Im totally new to the phone, doesnt indicate anything on the screen
