Does knowing too much about an Actors personal life...

...ruin your ability to see them as a character in a film.

I'm finding this to be more and more the case.

Actors like: Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Brat Pitt... etc

Whenever I see them in a movie I can't detach the knowledge I have about them in my mind from the character they are trying to portray on screen.

I don't read celebrity rags but it's hard to not stumble upon information about the high profile actors in some of my news feeds.

I watched SALT yesterday, and "Knight and Day" a few days before and, apart from the films not being very good to begin with, I couldn't conceptualize the actors in these roles and it kept pulling me out of the film.

This doesn't happen with other high profile actors whom I've seen in multiple roles, but have never heard much news about their personal lives in the news.

Does anyone else find this?

Couldnt care less tbh, his personal beliefs aside Tom Cruise is one of the actors I admire a lot, his professionalism is always praised by people and he shows a lot of dedication to roles he's in. I like when actors try keep themselves out of the spotlight, but I dont hold it against them or forget they're actors if theres some scandal or something, look at RDJ, when you watch Iron Man are you thinking "god that Tony Stark guy has been in and out of jail and rehab so many times its ridiculous"
