Error 99

    Got the treaded error 99 at a game tonight on my Canon ID mk2, tried the usual ,removed battery and left it sit for 10 mins before reinstalling,removed cf card and tried with different one also cleaned contacts and no joy, of all the times for this to happen as busy tommorow and job on sunday,anyone know what else I can try thx

    Sorry to hear that before a busy day! :S
    have you tried using other lenses on the body as error 99 is a broad spectrum fault that usually applies to shutter but can also commonly involve lens errors too (there are over a 100 subfaults of the error 99 that are found using service software).

    Also on another note,what is your shutter count? 1D mkIIs should have a roughly 200K lifetime give or take a good amount, but average would be the 200K mark (shooting burst kills shutters sometimes in half the actuations as shooting with lesser frequency).

    I was getting Err99 on a 400D a couple of years ago.
    Then some c u next tuesday robbed it out of my car before I could get it fixed. Not a day goes by that I don't wonder if he/she ever solved the problem

    OP, I had Err 99 on my 50mm 1.4 and zerohamster repaired it. The lens is working perfectly now and I have to say I'm very pleased with the service.
