MKVI Golf - new features for 2011?

Does anyone know if the 2011 Golf has any new features that'd distinguish it on delivery from a car that's been sitting in VW's storage here for the last year or so?

    Edit: corrected title

I don't know, but it'd be the MKVI model anyway.

It won't be anything major since the model (MK VI) is just two years old so you wouldn't expect anything other than a minor facelift.

VW are not going to suddenly announce changes to the Golf which would significantly affect stock being held by distributors and dealers so you are probably safe in buying a stock model with a 2011 plate, unless the dealer makes you an offer you can't refuse to take it in 2010.

Oops - that should've been MKVI :o My Roman numerals aren't what they should be...

Its for a relative who doesn't want to buy a car that's been sitting in a yard for a year or so - they're less worried about facelifts than buying old stock.

I wouldn't worry about a new car having spent months in a compound, the bodywork is covered in a heavy wax which protects it from the elements, the engine obviously isn't being used and before it's handed over to the customer it gets a full cleaning and valet and it goes through a PDI - pre-delivery inspection which is a very long checklist that the dealer has to go through to make sure that every last piece of equipment is ship shape and working as designed.

No, I don't work for a dealer or the SIMI but I wouldn't worry about the car deteriorating even if it spent months waiting for a buyer.

Pretty sure there are no changes to the Golf for 2011, but I'll check on Monday. Product guide should be up on the website by now as I got them mailed through from VW earlier this week.

Wouldn't be worried about a car sitting around in stock for ages, as those days are well and truly gone. Most Manufacturers aren't keeping stock anymore (not even Ford or Opel) so it's up to dealers to keep stock themselves.

Dealers can't afford to be stuck with stock so they either don't order much for stock, or only stock cars they know will move quickly. I was offered a standard Comfortline 1.6 from stock earlier this year, but the customer wanted extra's so had to wait 10 weeks for a factory order.

The days of cars sitting in compounds somewhere are long gone.

Manufacturers are not allowed by their respective HQ's to have cars sitting endlessly in stock. It will show up on their reporting process as part of their aged stock report.

Dealers can also not afford to have vehicles sitting in stock either blocking up their cash flow.

If anything, Dealers are short stock and with importers not carrying huge amounts any more, you would be pretty safe that the new car is new!

Yep there are changes to the 2011 Golf.

I've been looking closely at it for a few weeks (thinking of buying).

Just in the last week or so:

    1) The price has gone up. It's now just over €26k to buy the model I was looking at (Highline 1.4TSI DSG) which is about €500 dearer than it was a few weeks ago.
    2) The highline spec now includes the Light Pack by default.
    3) The Comfort pack option has changed and you are getting less  (it used to be great value, including climate control, light pack and winter pack for the price of climate control on its own - now it's only parking sensors basically )
    4) Other option packs have changed
    5) There is now a scrappage scheme for the Golf.

The price increase is disgusting in the recession.

    Re: Light Pack

Is this DRL's and rear LED's?

    Re: Light Pack

'Light' pack, sounds like they have removed equipment to save weight. Ingenious.

No no no they remove equipment so they can classify it as 'an option' and then charge you more to re fit it.
