Is she interested or friendly?

Have been texting this girl for over a week or so. Background is we work in the same company. When we see each other in the hallway she makes it her business to move out of her group to make eye contact and smile at me, and we say hello to each other. When i got her number she said i have to text her first every time, which i thought was a bit strange. When I do text her, it will be light conversation, most of her responses will have smiley s in them. But when texting id send her a message and then no response, so id leave it at that(nothing would be said to insult or hurt her) She'd never respond. Then other nights we would text for hours and she'd be going on as if she was keen.

So many mixed signals i dont know what to make of it. Is she interested or friendly or playin games?

Hope ye can follow, head is bit mixed up over it!

Did you try asking her out for a coffee or some lunch? Could be a good ice breaker and give you both a chance to talk to eachother

Agree with NewToBoards. Ask her out for a coffee or what not and you should get your answer.

You were right to assume she was into you with eye contact and smiling. We would all think the same. And you are also right to have doubts knowing she would just not reply for long peiods of time.

Its 50/50 mate. You just dont know. Especially with women.
She could be into you. She could be using you as an ego boost. Best to just ask her out and get the answer.

She could be into you but thats an unknown quantity: what is known is that she likes you. Go with that. Ask her to lunch. Carry on a conversation that isnt in textspace.

She has a boyfriend, that's why the texts come thick and heavy on some occasions (he's not around) and then sparse or non-existent at other times (he's around).

    No biggie.

She told me she hasnt a boyfriend, but she was in a relationship up to 4 months ago. Could it be she is unsure if she wants to be in another so soon?

also thinkin that too. you'd imagine she would ignore my first text if that was the case though

It sounds like she's interested. The fact that she doesn't always reply might be because she's either busy or you've sent her a text that doesn't necessarily warrant a reply. The thing is most people wouldn't have really long text conversations with people they had purely platonic interest in (unless they've known each other for years and years, which ye clearly haven't). I'd say go for it, what's the worst that can happen?

Could be. But mate, i've seen girls text....even hang out with a guy who they werent that into (sure we all have seen it) Some people like to have someone on the go because its better than nothing (ego boost)

Its best to text her asking to meet up. Because if she gives you any excuses (busy this week etc etc) then you got your answer. No point in wasting your time with someone if they aint into it.

was textin her there and askin was she going out tonight, to arrange to meet up later on. she responded first 2 texts again and then nothin, and i ended the last one with a question, no response. Didnt mention anything bout meetin up or anything. Just dont get it. Cutting my losses with her now. She knows where i am if she wants me!!

    Best attitude to have mate.
I think you got your answer now. Ah just chalk it up to your gut instinct was right :) So if you're ever in another situation like this, listen to your gut :) It always tends to be right.

Nothing wrong with trying, something might happen when she sees i have stopped chasing her. If not,at least i wouldn't have been wasting my time.

Fair play to you OP, I really respect you for that.

It takes b*lls to strike up conversation and it can make you feel exposed and vulnerable. She sounds like a bit of a melt to be honest.

However, I'm a girl and I gotta say, alot of the time women are crazy! When I'm into a guy I often act very strange and give him teh complete wrong impression. If a guy I'm not into texts me, I will text back right away without even thinking because I don't care what he thinks of me. If a guy I'm into texts me, I'll play games, not text back, play hard to get etc like an idiot.

It oftens backfires on me and I lose the guys I like.

She seriously could be just acting coy and playing hard to get. Girls tend to like drama but it's a head wreck.

Thankfully I grew up and stopped doing that but maybe she hasn't.

    Just a thought

She gave me her number when we were just having small talk and a bit on facebook. I also felt a bit of interest from her before i started to talk to her. Dont get me wrong still have feeling for her but just annoys me when she only responds every now and again.

Would i be better off to leave her and see what happens in the next few days from her side. Or keep texting her every now and again

    Don't keep texting.
    I cannot state that enough.

If you continue to text you omit all elements of mystery or surprise.
She already knows that you like her but if you continue to text her then she'll know she has you exactly where she wants you and she'll get bored.

I gaurantee that you'll seem mush more interesting if you act aloof.
She knows where you are and if she likes you enough then she'll make the effort.

You are worth a girl making an effort over you, don't ever forget that and don't place her on a pedestal or in any way above you.

There are tons of great mature women out there. Go after them and forget here and chances are once you do that she'll be all over you!

    You've done enough IMO

Good luck OP, you sound like a great bloke and I hope it works out.
