A 38-year-old Offaly man who abused and assaulted his elderly parents in their own home has been given a 15-year jail sentence at Tullamore Circuit Court.
John Trimble Jr, with an address at Bolart, near Clara, had pleaded guilty to harassment, endangerment, assault and the false imprisonment of his 69-year-old mother Elizabeth and 70-year-old father John Sr at their home on dates during 2009.
Mr Trimble pleaded guilty to forcing both parents to take cold showers and drip dry next to an open back door of the house on a daily basis.
He also admitted denying them access to food, nutrition and medical attention.

I couldn't help thinking that if he had parents aged 69 & 70 forcing them to take cold baths then dry beside an open door - he wouldn't be set to inherit the property by any chance ? If he was that would put a very different complexion on this whole thing. Denying them nutrition medical attention etc.

I'd say this dickhead will do some hard time.
There are lots of convicts who are bad men but most of them hate bullies and sex offenders and most of them have elderly parents.

Getting a hiding in the clink could turn out to be a weekly occurence for this scumbag.

Honour amongst thieves, eh?! How can someone be a "bad man" in jail and still hate "bullies"? Wtf was he do the outside, that got him in prison (and what's he going to be when he gets out again? A social worker?) Not saying it's a bad thing, tbh, scumbags beating up scumbags, but I don't think it should be glorified.

For the record, it's worse than the OP's link. From the IT this morning, I was reading what he was up to.

He used to make his elderly mother get up and take a cold shower, then open the back door and make her stand by it so the cold would drip dry her. He'd then make her go out into the back garden to do the laundry naked and then clean the floor with wipes, before making her take another cold shower and ordering her to get back to bed.

Dad was treated the same but also worse. The man had prostate cancer and Trimble made the old man phone his doctor and tell him that he no longer wanted to be his patient.

Parents were also malnourished (fed only on biscuits and lemonade) and were also beaten. All of this happened over 6 months.

Gardaí came in and found two malnourished, naked old people lying on the bed in a state in a state of distress.

I'm certainly not in favour of torture, the death penalty or this claptrap about 'ordinary decent criminals' but this guy's actions horrify me.

They're in their seventies. Mam would have run away (she was fitter than the dad) but she was terrified of what would happen to her husband as he was in terrible shape due to his prostate cancer)
